The Topsy Turvy tea birthday party theme is the one that I chose for my daughter when she turned 6. This was one of the best choices I could have made. She adored it! She had a great time and all her friends were thrilled to be invited to a tea party.

The ‘Don’t be late’ invitations were perfect. She was so excited she could hardly wait for the day of the party. The guests were greeted at the entrance to the room, which was made to look like a rabbit hole by putting up dark curtains and a tunnel was made with a large box with the ends cut out and painted black. The room for the party included a long table that had been set with different types of teapots and cups and saucers. In the middle was a large teapot with a stuffed mouse looking out of the pot.

I decorated the room from an idea I got from the Internet. This was fairly inexpensive. I got some different shaped clocks from the thrift store and hung them around the room with the time set at 2:00 p.m., which was the time of the party. This was also a great place for finding doilies to use on the table. Paper lanterns can be made or purchased to hang around the room. This adds a festive air to the room.

The cake was made and decorated like a large card. Food for the tea party included finger sandwiches, of course and cookies that were cut in the shape of hearts and teapots and decorated. The girls loved the butterfly piñata. After the cake was served everyone went to the back yard to play croquet. They really enjoyed learning the game. After the game, they watched an Alice in Wonderland movie. I am so glad I chose the Topsy Turvy birthday party theme because everyone had such a great time, especially my birthday girl.
