The cake was a ladybug with icing in pink and lime. She found pink and lime candles and the kids loved the cake so much; they almost didn’t want her to cut it. She came up with the great idea of making ladybug sandwiches. Of course, they weren’t really ladybugs. The sandwiches were cut and shaped like ladybugs and strawberry jam and cream cheese with a bit of color was added and topped with chocolate chips for the spots. The head was just a slice of strawberry. Everybody loved them – even the adults.

A photo of the birthday girl and her name was added to the banner greeting guests and this was also on the plates and the centerpiece. She got a signature plate for everybody to add their names and their children’s names and it is added to the memory chest she is keeping for my niece to enjoy when she gets older. She will have a great time looking at the special items from birthdays she won’t remember.

The kids played with the ladybug bean bags she purchased for the party and had a wonderful time tossing them into colored baskets. The game included prizes for the children as they tossed the ladybug bean bags into the color basket that was called out. They danced to the ‘ladybug’ music and fluttered their make-believe wings. Before leaving, each little girl got a favor box with crayons, a notepad, ladybug bracelets and a plush little ladybug.
